The welfare of our employees, contractors, subcontractors, customers, consultants, visitors and the general public is our first priority. We rely on this as do our families.
We believe that good safety is good for our business. Our reputation and profitability depend upon our ability to manage our operations safely.
We aim to nurture a strong safety culture at Baulderstone based on collaboration, teamwork, consultation, learning, leadership and continual improvement. We believe that all accidents in the workplace are preventable when everyone takes responsibility for their own safety on site, and the safety of others.
We are proud of the fact that we were the first top-tier construction company to achieve Australia-wide third party accreditation covering all our sites and operations to AS 4801 "Occupational, Health & Safety Management Systems".
Baulderstone was also the first company to achieve accreditation to the Australian Government Building and Construction OHS Accreditation Scheme. The Scheme, which sets rigorous safety management and performance demands, qualifies Baulderstone to undertake work on Australian Government funded projects.
Baulderstone is a dedicated and enthusiastic participant in industry initiatives that seek to improve safety generally across the industry.
The company's approach to safety is reinforced through our "Safety matters" programme. "Safety matters" is focused on reducing workplace incidents, injuries and illnesses through behavioural change and personal awareness and responsibility. Subcontractors and clients participate in this program together with Baulderstone corporate staff and construction workers.
"Safety matters" is recognition of the progress Baulderstone has made in safety improvement. It is also a statement of what we value; and it represents the challenges that lie ahead as we strive towards our ultimate objective of eliminating injuries on our sites.
Our message to our people and the workforce is simple: "Don't' take risk" and "Look out for your safety and that of your workmates."
