Supporting Creativity Baulderstone's sponsorship of the Sydney Opera House, in particular the House History section of the website, helps to tell the story of this unique world icon to a global audience. House History outlines how Sydney Opera House came to life whilst also explaining Baulderstone's involvement in that journey - including the development of the best methods to construct the unique shells. History has shown the enormous challenges in construction demanded pioneering applications of many new materials as well as building and engineering practices - practices that to this day are still considered pioneering for its time. Jørn Utzon's unique design pioneered a number of world firsts in architecture, engineering and construction, and re-defined what was considered possible. The Sydney Opera House project exemplified the type of large, technically complex projects undertaken by Baulderstone, then and now.
In 2007 the Sydney Opera House achieved World Heritage Status with the expert panel stating: Our sponsorship also assists the Sydney Opera House to continue to offer a rich variety of experiences for audiences, ranging from world-class classical music to free outdoor broadcasts on the Forecourt. A key focus for the Sydney Opera House is on harnessing the imagination of young people and connecting with our regional and global community in the generation, exploration and presentation of ideas and new work. The Sydney Opera House is the creative and cultural flagship for our nation, encouraging leading artists to create works that challenge, entertain and stimulate audiences.
