Cbus Property has awarded Baulderstone a circa $140 million contract for the construction of Melbourne’s new City West Police Complex.
This significant Victorian project will involve the design and construction of approximately 28,000m2 of contemporary office space for Victoria Police’s major criminal investigation teams and a purpose-built police station as well as parking facilities for 300 vehicles. The facility will comprise:
· Nine floors of office space;
· An additional floor of shared amenities including a roof top garden;
· A tower lobby and modern custodial facilities;
· Double height rooftop plant area; and
· Two levels of basement car parking.
Baulderstone General Manager Pat Cashin explained that the project represents a critical piece of infrastructure for Melbourne’s community and future generations.
“Baulderstone has a proven track record in delivering large, multifaceted commercial buildings and we are proud to continue playing a key role in delivering infrastructure vital to Melbourne’s growth. The construction of the City West Police Complex will provide the city with a more comprehensive police service with enhanced community access, leaving an important legacy for Melbourne for many years to come.
“Delivering complex projects, whilst maintaining an absolute commitment to safety is one of our core capabilities and I’m confident that we will give the local community a new police facility they can be proud of.
“The City West Police Complex is a major addition to Baulderstone's portfolio of significant Victorian projects and we’re looking forward to a successful and enduring relationship with Cbus Property,” Mr Cashin added.
Demolition of the existing buildings is currently underway and project completion is scheduled for March 2015.
