Baulderstone Selected to Deliver North West Rail Link Early Works
28 August 2012
Transport for NSW announced today that Baulderstone has been selected as the managing contractor for the early works component of the highly-anticipated North West Rail Link (NWRL). The works, valued at up to $70 million, include the relocation of services and utilities; site readiness and demolition works; and the provision of HV electrical supply for the main works.
The NWRL project will deliver a new 36 kilometre long rapid transit rail link between Chatswood on Sydney’s north shore and the growing Hill’s district in the North West of Sydney.
“Baulderstone has a strong background in delivering a wide range of complex projects within urban environments in NSW. The selection of Baulderstone to deliver the first stage of this exciting project is a testament to our capacity to deliver challenging engineering projects,” said Baulderstone’s NSW General Manager, Frank Lorenzetto.
“Our specialist team will place a particular focus on building and maintaining positive and productive relationships with the community. We want to make sure that local residents are kept informed about the works being carried out to help minimise impact.
“We are committed to delivering outstanding results by laying solid foundations for this significant piece of State infrastructure. Our works will ensure that the North West Rail Link continues its journey on the right track to success,” added Mr Lorenzetto.
The Early Works package is a critical part of the broader North West Rail Link project, which represents a considerable step in delivering an improved public transport system as part of Sydney’s Rail Future, and will provide tangible benefits to the people of Sydney.
Completion of early works is due in mid-2014.
