BAULDERSTONE'S PARENT COMPANY TO BE RENAMED VALEMUS 19 July 2010 Baulderstone's parent company, Bilfinger Berger Australia (BBA), today confirmed it intends to change its corporate name to Valemus. Valemus is pronounced ‘Val-ee-mus' (‘u' as in us). The name Valemus is derived from the Latin verb ‘Valere' which means to be strong, with ‘Mus' which means 'we'. Therefore the word means we are strong; we are effective; we are meeting the challenge. This proposed change of name has the full support of the company's German parent, Bilfinger Berger AG (BBAG). The name change reflects the differing focus between the Australian and European businesses: the Australian business largely concentrates on construction while Germany has decided to focus on services. The name change is also in recognition of how the company operates independently from its parent company. The new Valemus logo and corporate branding will be revealed in due course. Importantly, the change of name is to occur at the head office level only. There are no plans to make Valemus the name of any of operating companies. Valemus' operating companies Baulderstone and Abigroup will retain their current names and corporate brands. The third operating subsidiary, Bilfinger Berger Services, will also change its name in due course. Valemus and its operating companies are leaders in infrastructure and building construction and long term maintenance services. Baulderstone and Abigroup have long and successful histories in the Australian construction market and Bilfinger Berger Services is currently one of the largest road maintenance operator in Australia as well as providing long term asset maintenance services to the water, gas and power sectors. Valemus has proudly built some of Australia's most iconic buildings, complex motorways and significant ports and railways - among some of the iconic projects are the Sydney Opera House and Anzac bridge built by Baulderstone, the M2 and M7 motorways recently delivered by Abigroup. Valemus directly employs more than 6,800 people through its large construction and services projects.
