Baulderstone was appointed to undertake Stage 1 of the planned four stage, $440m Epworth Hospital Richmond Redevelopment.

This first stage of the redevelopment encompassed work to the Bridge Road site and had three components, which provided new areas for increased patient services and much-needed space for doctors’ consulting suites. The first component, to extend the Bridge Road Tower, included:

Refurbishment of Level 5 and 6 of the existing Bridge Road Tower

Extension of Bridge Road Tower structure from Levels 7 – 10

Extension of existing eastern lift core to serve new tower levels

Extension of Lifts 3 and 4 and refurbishment of existing Lift 1 and 2.

The second component was added to and reconfigured the specialist consulting spaces, with the addition of three new levels to the existing facility including:

Southern expansion of Bridge Road Tower from Level 1 – Level 4 cold shell

Installation of two infill slabs above the existing atrium

Installation of new Lift 3A.
The third component involved the construction of a new Citipower substation.
The four stage redevelopment of Epworth Hospital Richmond delivers state-of-the-art critical care facilities, improved acute and rehabilitation patient accommodation and purpose-built research and education facilities which includes a simulation laboratory, tiered lecture theatre, new library and additional education rooms.
