Innovation, flexibility and provision for future information needs were the focus in developing Stage 1 of Griffith University’s Information Services Centre at the Gold Coast Campus. Baulderstone began construction of the centre after a comprehensive design process.
It was the University’s goal to develop a functional building incorporating the most modern approach to the provision of library and information services in the academic environment. Working closely with the project architect, Baulderstone achieved an interior which was a move away from the traditional library design, while providing a light airy study environment.
Baulderstone completed this stage of the project six weeks ahead of schedule.
As a result of the strength of the relationship forged with the University during this stage, Baulderstone successfully negotiated the award of Stage 2 of the Information Services Centre, the new Vice Chancellor’s Offices and Administration Facilities.
Stage 2 of the centre integrates into Stage 1 and was successfully completed within a fast track, design and construct delivery system, a step away from the more traditional approach to delivery normally undertaken by the University. Stage 2 features an innovative design which also complements the bushland setting and environment of the Gold Coast.
In keeping with the first stage of the project it was completed well within budget and time deadlines set by the client.
