This project was the largest of four packages of works as part of the Department of Defence Hardened and Networked Army (HNA) project at the Edinburgh Defence base in Adelaide’s northern suburbs.
This project required the delivery of 56 individual buildings providing working accommodation, administration support, training, maintenance and storage facilities for the 7th Battalion Royal Australian Regiment (7RAR) to move from Darwin to Edinburgh Defence Precinct.
The facilities are largely steel and precast framed buildings with internal fitouts to suit Defence users requirements. In addition to the building works, a southern base entry and heavy duty road network was constructed to service the new facilities.
This project also included the sitewide upgrade of the HV electrical distribution and communications infrastructure for the base and will deliver new water, fire services, sewer, stormwater and gas services to support the new facilities.
Establishment of strong base coordination and communications protocols and a proactive development of the web based project collaboration tool added significant value to the project.
