Many of South Australia’s finest craftsmen applied their skills to the rebirth of the heritage listed Regent Arcade as an elegant and refined shopping area. Elaborate cornices and rich ornamentation were used to recreate the stunning and extravagant style of the original 1920’s Regent Theatre, whose Georgian facade fronts Adelaide’s Rundle Mall.
A mosaic of highly decorative, earth-toned tiles leads shoppers past 40 shopfronts enhanced by the glowing texture of jarrah timber and copper trim. Baulderstone undertook this landmark project for the Collegiate School of Saint Peter. As a result of our established expertise in this area, we negotiated the Construction Management directly with the Project Manager acting on the school’s behalf. With most businesses trading through the refurbishment, careful coordination of trades was paramount to ensure the critical ‘minimal disruption’ requirements to businesses and shoppers was achieved.
To ensure seamless progress between the concurrent design and construction, state of the art programming and execution methodology was employed. The end result was a defect free mall delivered within the demanding six month time frame. This allowed the new mall to trade through the lucrative Christmas shopping season.
