Advertiser Newspapers, part of the News Limited Group, engaged Baulderstone in a Managing Contractor capacity for the construction of their new office premises, Sir Keith Murdoch House. The building consists of a single level car park basement area, a multipurpose ground floor, four office floors and a roof level with entertainment areas. The gross floor area is approximately 23,000m2.
Advertiser Newspapers, were committed to vacating their old premises and as such had to fast track the development of their new office building to allow occupancy in October 2005. This client chose to engage Baulderstone Hornibrook in the role of Managing Contractor due to our proven experience in meeting required deadlines.
The design was carried out quickly, but with a high quality end product in mind. All members of the team understood that this building would fast become an icon in Adelaide. Baulderstone was also responsible for the integrated fitout of the building. One element of the fit out was the progressive occupation of the building, which was necessary due to the staged process the client had to undertake to leave their existing accommodation under a tight timeframe, whilst still running a fully operational business. This process was well managed by Baulderstone, and met the client’s expectations.
Sir Keith Murdoch House was also designed to realise a 4.5 star Green Star rating, which has been achieved through intelligence in design as well as collaboration and team work in construction and fit out.
By maintaining a focus on collaboration with the client, designers and subcontractors we were able to deliver a product of exceptional quality, within tight timeframes, and that met all of the clients operational and ESD objectives.
