This $55 million project involved the extension and redevelopment of The Glen Shopping Centre. The development included Melbourne’s first suburban David Jones department store and 50 new specialty stores across 70,000m2 of space. Further improvements included a new glazed skylight and external atrium.
The two lower car park levels of the shopping centre were handed over to the client a full five months ahead of schedule, providing an additional 800 new spaces in time for Christmas.
Special finishes to the mall included high quality brass balustrades, polished timber handrails and terrazzo and marble flooring. Elevators, escalators and travelators were also installed.
Careful project management allowed the centre to trade continuously throughout the construction period, with no disruption to shoppers and retailers.
The project was completed on time and within budget despite the complexity of the development and multiple design changes.
