The City of Whittlesea required construction of a two storey administration office block connected to the council chambers, together with independent meeting rooms accessed via the foyer and Great Hall areas. The state-of-the-art complex included construction of a large feature lake, landscaping, entrance road and car parking areas.
The project was delivered on schedule, enabling the council to close its old premises on a Thursday and be fully operational in new complex the following Monday. The first civic function held by council in the Great Hall, was an official thank you to Baulderstone for its work.
High quality finished materials were used, including Italian granite wall linings, local bluestone paving, a combination of glass and stainless steel for a glass bubbleshaped elevator, marble cladding to all external circular columns and wall panelling in native mountain veneers.
